Which studio developed the Xbox 360 version of Forza Horizon 2?
Answer
Sumo Digital
Answer
Sumo Digital
Sumo Digital developed the Xbox 360 version of Forza Horizon 2.
The game had two substantially different builds. Playground Games, which created the original Forza Horizon, led development of the Xbox One edition, while Sumo Digital took the lead on the Xbox 360 version. Turn 10 Studios supported both projects as the wider Forza series developer.
The distinction matters because the Xbox 360 release was not simply a reduced port of the Xbox One game. It used the earlier Forza Horizon engine and lacked several Xbox One features, including dynamic weather, Drivatar AI, tuning, and the same unrestricted open-world structure. Playground Games described the versions as effectively different games.
Forza Horizon 2 launched in 2014 and was the last Forza game released for Xbox 360. Sumo Digital's role is sometimes confused with Playground Games' role because Playground remained the principal developer of the Xbox One edition.
