Which Stockholm open-air museum is famous for its annual Swedish Midsummer celebrations?

The story behind the answer

Skansen is the Stockholm open-air museum famous for its annual Swedish Midsummer celebrations.

Founded in 1891 by Artur Hazelius, Skansen presents historic buildings and traditions from across Sweden. Its Midsummer program includes raising and dancing around a maypole, folk music, traditional games and seasonal food.

Skansen is located on Djurgården, an island in central Stockholm. It is also widely described as the world’s first open-air museum, although similar heritage museums later appeared elsewhere.

The museum’s Midsummer events are public cultural celebrations rather than the private family gatherings common in much of Sweden. This makes Skansen one of the best-known places for visitors to experience Swedish Midsummer customs.
