The Saudi Exchange lists Saudi Aramco, the oil company that became one of the world's most valuable public companies.
Saudi Aramco began public trading on the Saudi Exchange in December 2019. The exchange was widely known as Tadawul before adopting the English name Saudi Exchange. Its principal market is located in Riyadh and is the main stock market of Saudi Arabia.
The listing was a landmark in global finance because Saudi Aramco's initial offering was exceptionally large and immediately made the company a leading public corporation by market capitalization. The offering also formed part of Saudi Arabia's broader economic-diversification strategy associated with Vision 2030.
A common error is to answer the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq because many giant technology companies trade in the United States. Saudi Aramco's primary listing is domestic, although the company has also used international markets for other securities and financing activities. Exchange location and company headquarters are separate facts.
