Colorado planned the America 250–Colorado 150 celebration for 2026.
The combined observance marks the 250th anniversary of American independence and the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood. Colorado entered the Union in 1876, the same year as the national Centennial, which makes the two anniversaries align again in 2026.
The Colorado General Assembly created the America 250–Colorado 150 Commission through legislation signed by Governor Jared Polis in 2022. History Colorado hosts the commission and supports its public programs.
The state initiative is separate from the national United States Semiquincentennial Commission, although both are connected to the 2026 anniversary. Colorado's commemoration emphasizes state history, educational activities, public ceremonies, and historical publications.
