Which startup incubator accepted Reddit into its first class?

The story behind the answer

Which startup incubator accepted Reddit into its first class? The answer is Y Combinator.

Y Combinator accepted Reddit into its first class in 2005. Reddit co-founders Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian had met programmer and entrepreneur Paul Graham during a lecture trip to Boston, and Graham invited them to apply to his new startup incubator.

Their original application was not for Reddit. The founders first proposed My Mobile Menu, a text-message food-ordering service. After that concept failed to impress, Graham encouraged them to develop another idea. During a brainstorming session, Huffman and Ohanian created the concept of a site that Graham described as the “front page of the Internet.”

With Y Combinator funding, Huffman built Reddit in Common Lisp, and the founders launched it in June 2005. To make the new site appear active, they initially created hundreds of fake user accounts and used them to submit posts. Y Combinator later became one of Silicon Valley’s best-known accelerators, but Reddit belongs specifically to its inaugural batch.
