Which South Park boy usually wears an orange parka hood?
Answer
Kenny McCormick
Answer
Kenny McCormick
The South Park boy who usually wears an orange parka hood is Kenny McCormick.
Kenny’s oversized orange parka and tightly drawn hood conceal most of his face, producing his famously muffled speech. Co-creator Matt Stone supplies Kenny’s voice, traditionally by speaking through his hand or otherwise simulating the obstruction caused by the hood. The outfit also includes orange pants, faded-brown gloves, and black shoes.
Kenny’s clothing is more than a visual gag: it reflects his background as the poorest child in the main group. Series co-creator Trey Parker has said the character was inspired by a real childhood acquaintance named Kenny, who wore an orange parka and often skipped school. Friends jokingly imagined that he had died when he disappeared, an idea that became South Park’s recurring death joke.
Kenny first appeared in The Spirit of Christmas shorts in 1992 and 1995, then joined the television cast in 1997. His face was first fully revealed in South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, released in 1999. His later superhero identity, Mysterion, provides another rare opportunity for him to speak clearly.
