The soul singer whose 1972 album I'm Still in Love with You features “Love and Happiness” is Al Green.
Released by Hi Records on October 23, 1972, the album was Green’s fifth studio album and was produced by Willie Mitchell. Its Memphis soul sound combines Green’s intimate lead vocal with the tight rhythm work associated with Royal Studios and the Hi Records team.
“Love and Happiness” was one of the album’s singles, alongside “I’m Still in Love with You” and “Look What You Done for Me.” The album reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard R&B albums chart. It was also certified platinum in the United States.
A common mix-up is confusing the album with Green’s earlier 1972 release Let’s Stay Together, whose title song became one of his signature recordings. “Love and Happiness,” however, belongs to I'm Still in Love with You and helped establish that record as one of Green’s defining classic-soul albums.
