Which song from Pixar’s Cars was performed by James Taylor?

James Taylor performed “Our Town” for Pixar’s Cars.

Written by Randy Newman, “Our Town” plays over a reflective sequence in which Radiator Springs is shown in its earlier, busier days and then in decline after the interstate changes traffic patterns. The song emphasizes the town’s history and the passage of time.

Taylor’s recording appears on the Cars soundtrack and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. The song is different from “Life Is a Highway,” which is performed by Rascal Flatts and is one of the film’s most recognizable energetic tracks.

Randy Newman wrote several songs for the Cars project and composed its score. “Our Town” therefore combines Newman’s songwriting with Taylor’s performance, while its lyrics support the film’s themes of memory, community, and changing roads.
