Taylor Swift performed “august” immediately after “cardigan” and before “willow” at the 2021 Grammys.
The three-song medley appeared at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021. It linked two Folklore songs with “willow,” the opening track of Swift’s sister album Evermore, which had been released in December 2020.
The performance used a cottage-like set and a stripped-back ensemble led by Swift, Jack Antonoff, and Aaron Dessner. Swift sang “cardigan” first, moved into “august” while playing guitar inside the cottage, and then concluded with “willow” outside it.
The sequence is easy to confuse with the Folklore love-triangle order. “betty” is part of the fictional trilogy with “cardigan” and “august,” but it was not included in this Grammy medley.
