“Our Town” by Randy Newman serves as the main theme of Pixar's Cars.
The song plays over the film's closing credits and reflects Radiator Springs' history, changing fortunes, and emotional importance. Its reflective style contrasts with the fast opening race and supports the film's broader story about slowing down and valuing community.
Randy Newman composed the score and wrote several songs for Cars. “Our Town” earned the Academy Award for Best Original Song nomination and won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
“Life Is a Highway,” performed by Rascal Flatts, is another prominent song from the soundtrack, but it is not the film's main theme. “Real Gone,” performed by Sheryl Crow, opens the movie, while “Route 66” is a different song associated with the film.
