Olivia Rodrigo’s song “Lacy” opens episode 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3.
The song appears in “Last Christmas,” the second episode of the season. Its use is part of the series’ highly prominent music identity, which often pairs contemporary pop songs with Belly’s emotional perspective and the show’s romantic tension.
“Lacy” comes from Rodrigo’s 2023 album Guts. It is easy to confuse the song with other Rodrigo tracks or with the many Taylor Swift songs used throughout the series, especially because both artists are strongly associated with the show’s soundtrack culture.
Season 3 continued the program’s practice of using recognizable songs to mark shifts in relationships and memory. The second episode also includes Christmas flashback material, making its soundtrack especially important to the atmosphere and storytelling.
