Which snake is the world’s heaviest living snake by mass?
Answer
Green anaconda
Answer
Green anaconda
The green anaconda is the world’s heaviest living snake by mass.
Green anacondas are enormous aquatic boas native to tropical South America. They spend much of their time in slow-moving rivers, swamps, and flooded forests, where their eyes and nostrils sit high on the head while the rest of the body remains submerged.
Length records are more complicated than weight records. Reticulated pythons are generally recognized as the longest living snakes, while green anacondas are heavier and bulkier. Exceptionally large anacondas have been reported, but many extreme measurements lack reliable documentation.
The species belongs to the boa family, Boidae, and gives birth to live young rather than laying eggs. Its diet includes fish, birds, mammals, and caimans. The name “anaconda” is used for several South American Eunectes species, but the green anaconda is the best-known and largest by mass.
