Which snake is the only known snake species made up entirely of females?

The story behind the answer

The Brahminy blind snake is the only known snake species made up entirely of females.

Its scientific name is Indotyphlops braminus, and it reproduces through parthenogenesis. In this process, females produce offspring without fertilization by a male. The resulting young are genetically very similar to their mothers, allowing a single individual to establish a population when transported to a new location.

This tiny, burrowing snake is native to parts of Africa and Asia but has spread widely through tropical and subtropical regions. It is frequently moved in soil around ornamental plants, which has earned it the informal nickname flowerpot snake.

The Brahminy blind snake is harmless to people and mainly feeds on ants, termites, and their larvae. Its small size, underground lifestyle, and wormlike appearance mean it is often mistaken for an earthworm, but it has scales and is a genuine snake.
