Which singer performed the end-credit song "Life Is a Highway" for Pixar's Cars?

Rascal Flatts performed the end-credit song "Life Is a Highway" for Pixar's Cars.

The country music group recorded a new version of Tom Cochrane's 1991 song for the film's soundtrack. Their energetic arrangement plays over the end credits and became one of the most strongly associated songs in the Cars franchise.

Cochrane originally wrote and recorded the song, but the Cars version was performed by Rascal Flatts. That distinction matters because questions about the song can refer either to its original artist or to the performer heard in Pixar's film.

The soundtrack also includes music by Randy Newman, whose score and songs helped establish the film's Americana atmosphere. Other artists contribute to the broader album, but Rascal Flatts' recording is the signature end-credit version. The song's highway imagery also fits the film's Route 66 setting and Lightning's journey away from a purely competitive life.
