Which singer left Take That in 1995, before the group’s original breakup?

The story behind the answer

Robbie Williams left Take That in 1995, before the group’s original breakup.

Williams joined Take That as its youngest member in 1990. The group became one of Britain’s most successful acts, with hits including “Pray,” “Relight My Fire,” and “Back for Good.” Williams’s relationship with the band became increasingly difficult, and he departed during the band’s Nobody Else tour in July 1995.

Take That continued as a four-piece for a short time, but the remaining members announced their breakup in February 1996. Williams then began a solo career, eventually becoming one of the United Kingdom’s best-selling recording artists.

The departure is sometimes confused with the later breakup or with Williams’s 2010 return to Take That. He rejoined the group for the Progress album and tour, but his original exit happened in 1995, when the band was still at the height of its first era.
