Which boy band released “The Love You Save” as a 1970 single?

The Jackson 5 released “The Love You Save” as a 1970 single.

Motown issued the song in May 1970, making it the third consecutive Jackson 5 single to reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. It followed “I Want You Back” and “ABC,” giving the group an extraordinary early run of chart-topping singles.

The song was written by a team that included Freddie Perren, Fonce Mizell, Deke Richards, and Berry Gordy. Its lyrics use a cautionary message about slowing down and making responsible choices, while the recording keeps the energetic pop-soul style associated with the group.

The Jackson 5 are sometimes confused with The Osmonds when discussing family-based boy bands of the era. Both groups featured siblings and achieved major television and record success, but “The Love You Save” belongs specifically to the Jackson 5.
