Tom Jones guest-starred as himself in season 3, episode 18 of *The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air*.
The episode, “The Alma Matter,” centers on Carlton Banks after Princeton rejects him. In a dreamlike sequence, Carlton encounters a guardian angel portrayed by Welsh singer Tom Jones. Jones appears as a fictionalized version of himself rather than as a regular character in the Banks family’s world.
The cameo is easy to confuse with Quincy Jones, the musician and producer who was an executive producer of the series. Quincy Jones is connected to the show behind the scenes, while Tom Jones is the celebrity guest in this episode. The episode originally aired in February 1993 and is remembered for combining Carlton’s college disappointment with an unexpected musical fantasy.
