Answer
Wendy O. Williams
Answer
Wendy O. Williams
Wendy O. Williams fronted the shock-punk band the Plasmatics from its formation in 1977.
Williams co-founded the Plasmatics with theatrical producer Rod Swenson in New York City. The group became known for confrontational stage performances, loud guitar-driven music, and elaborate destruction-based spectacles.
Her appearance was central to the band’s identity: she often wore brightly colored hair, leather, and a distinctive mohawk. The Plasmatics’ best-known releases include the 1980 debut album New Hope for the Wretched and the 1981 album Beyond the Valley of 1984.
Williams also recorded solo material, including the 1984 album WOW, produced with Motörhead’s Lemmy. Although the Plasmatics are often described simply as punk, their music also drew on heavy metal and performance art.
