Jay-Z features on Beyoncé’s hit single “Crazy in Love.”
Released in 2003, “Crazy in Love” was the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. Beyoncé sings the main vocal, while Jay-Z contributes a rap verse and opening lines. The collaboration also reflected their emerging public and musical partnership.
The song was built around a prominent horn sample from “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So),” a 1970 song by the Chicago soul group the Chi-Lites. Producer Rich Harrison created the track’s energetic arrangement, and Beyoncé helped write the song with Jay-Z, Harrison, and other collaborators.
“Crazy in Love” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of Beyoncé’s defining songs. Its music video, featuring Beyoncé’s choreography and styling, won multiple awards. Jay-Z is sometimes identified only as the song’s co-star, but his contribution is specifically a featured vocal and rap performance rather than a separate remix appearance.
