Which Silicon Valley company introduced the first widely successful commercial graphical web browser, Mosaic's successor Netscape Navigator, in 1994?

The story behind the answer

Netscape introduced Netscape Navigator in 1994, the commercial browser that brought Mosaic's graphical web experience to a mass audience.

The company was originally incorporated as Mosaic Communications Corporation in April 1994. It was founded by Marc Andreessen, who had helped create Mosaic at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, and entrepreneur Jim Clark. After a trademark dispute, the company changed its name to Netscape Communications Corporation, and its browser became Netscape Navigator.

Netscape's rapid growth helped establish the web as a mainstream platform and made browser software a central Silicon Valley battleground. Microsoft later bundled Internet Explorer with Windows, beginning the browser wars that weakened Netscape's market position. AOL acquired Netscape in 1998. Mozilla's Firefox descended partly from Netscape's open-source browser code, but Mozilla was not the company that launched Netscape Navigator.
