Which sidecar driver holds the record for most TT wins in that class?

The story behind the answer

Dave Molyneux holds the record for the most Isle of Man TT sidecar wins by a driver, with 17 victories.

The Manx competitor began winning in the Sidecar TT in 1989 and built his record across several decades. His victories came with different passengers and machinery, including Yamaha-, Honda-, Suzuki-, and Kawasaki-powered outfits. His 17th TT win arrived in the 2014 Sidecar TT B race.

Molyneux is often described as the most successful sidecar competitor in TT history, but that should not be confused with the all-time overall TT wins record. Solo riders Michael Dunlop, Joey Dunlop, and John McGuinness have more victories because the overall table combines all classes.

Ben Birchall is the closest name among the wrong options, with a formidable sidecar record of his own, while Tim Reeves and Klaus Klaffenböck are also accomplished sidecar racers. However, none has surpassed Molyneux’s total.
