The Sesame Street character with a unibrow who is often annoyed by his roommate is Bert. He is the more serious, orderly half of the famous Bert-and-Ernie duo, while Ernie’s playful schemes and love of mischief frequently test Bert’s patience.
Bert and Ernie appeared together from Sesame Street’s earliest productions and became central examples of contrasting personalities. Bert is associated with quiet hobbies and orderly interests, including collecting bottle caps, reading, and admiring pigeons. His distinctive design includes a tall head, a striped shirt, a pointed nose, and one large unibrow.
The roommate relationship is a recurring source of comedy, but Bert and Ernie are also portrayed as close friends who care about each other. Their dynamic is sometimes misunderstood because Bert’s exasperation can look like dislike. The show’s producers have consistently described them as best friends and roommates, making Bert the canonical answer rather than Ernie, who is the mischievous roommate causing many of the disruptions.
