Which Series 1 episode introduces new employee Donna?

Donna is introduced in “Work Experience,” the second episode of Series 1 of The Office (UK). The episode brings her into the Slough branch as a new employee while she is also staying temporarily with David Brent as a favour to her parents.

Her arrival becomes entangled with the office’s growing chaos. A pornographic image featuring Brent’s face circulates among the staff, and Gareth immediately assumes Tim is responsible. Brent tries to appear decisive, but his attempt to deal with the incident exposes his usual insecurity and incompetence.

“Work Experience” is often confused with “New Girl,” another Series 1 episode involving a female newcomer. However, “New Girl” focuses on Karen joining the office later in the series, while Donna first appears in “Work Experience.” Donna returns in “New Girl,” where her relationship with Ricky becomes part of the nightclub storyline.

The episode also helps establish the show’s central setting: Wernham Hogg’s Slough branch, where mockumentary cameras turn ordinary workplace events into painfully awkward comedy.
