Which season introduced the Battle Pass system in Fortnite?
Answer
Season 2
Answer
Season 2
Fortnite introduced the Battle Pass system in Season 2.
Season 2 began in December 2017 and replaced the first season’s simpler progression approach with a tiered reward track. Players could unlock cosmetic items by earning experience and completing gameplay objectives, while purchasing the pass gave access to additional seasonal rewards.
The system helped establish Fortnite’s season-based structure. Each season could bring new cosmetics, challenges, map changes, and themed content, giving players a reason to return regularly. Rewards included outfits, gliders, harvesting tools, emotes, loading screens, and other non-gameplay items.
Season 1 is the common distractor because it was Fortnite’s first numbered season, but it predates the Battle Pass. Seasons 3 and 4 expanded the model after it had already been introduced. The Battle Pass also became an influential example of a progression-based alternative to random-reward systems such as loot boxes.
