What monthly Fortnite subscription launched in December 2020?

The monthly Fortnite subscription launched in December 2020 was Fortnite Crew.

Epic Games announced Fortnite Crew in November 2020 and launched it on December 2 alongside Chapter 2, Season 5. The subscription was presented as a recurring bundle rather than a one-time cosmetic purchase. Its original package included the current Battle Pass, 1,000 V-Bucks each month, and an exclusive monthly Crew Pack containing an outfit and related cosmetics.

The first featured outfit was Galaxia, released as part of the December 2020 Crew offering. Fortnite Crew therefore differs from a Crew Pack: the Crew Pack is the monthly cosmetic reward, while Fortnite Crew is the subscription that provides the pack and other benefits. The Item Shop is a separate storefront, and the Battle Pass is a seasonal progression product.

The service later expanded beyond its original arrangement. Epic eventually tied Crew membership to premium rewards from additional Fortnite passes, although its exact benefits and pricing have changed over time. The historical question still has a single canonical answer because the subscription’s name at launch was Fortnite Crew, not Crew Pack.
