Which season did 2026 Hall of Fame inductee Chamique Holdsclaw lead the WNBA in scoring?

The story behind the answer

Chamique Holdsclaw led the WNBA in scoring in 2002.

Holdsclaw was already an established star by that season. The Washington Mystics selected her first overall in the 1999 WNBA draft after her celebrated college career at Tennessee, and she won the league’s Rookie of the Year award that same year.

Her 2002 scoring title was part of an 11-year WNBA career in which she averaged 16.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. She made six WNBA All-Star teams and played for Washington, the Los Angeles Sparks, the Atlanta Dream, and the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Holdsclaw’s professional achievements followed an extraordinary Tennessee résumé. She led the Lady Volunteers to three consecutive NCAA championships from 1996 through 1998 and won the Naismith College Player of the Year award twice.
