Brighton recorded a 4–0 win against Aston Villa in the 2026–27 Premier League opening round.
The match took place at Brighton’s home ground on Sunday, 23 August 2026. It was the largest home victory of the opening round and gave Brighton an excellent start to the campaign.
All four Brighton goals came inside the first 31 minutes, an unusually fast opening burst in a Premier League match. The result placed Brighton among the early leaders and left Aston Villa with the round’s heaviest defeat.
The scoreline also became historically notable because Brighton were only the fourth team to score four first-half goals in the opening match of a Premier League season. Earlier examples included Bolton Wanderers, Manchester United and Liverpool.
