Which club finished the first round top of the 2026–27 Premier League table?

Brighton & Hove Albion finished the first round top of the 2026–27 Premier League table.

Brighton led after beating Aston Villa 4–0 on Sunday 23 August 2026. The victory gave Brighton three points and a goal difference of plus four, the strongest record among the opening-weekend winners.

Arsenal and Brentford also won by three goals, but each scored three and therefore had a goal difference of plus three. Brighton’s extra goal was decisive in separating the early leaders from the other perfect-start teams.

The first table was only a snapshot after one match per club. It did not represent a final ranking or establish who would win the title. Brighton’s early lead nevertheless illustrated how goal difference is used when teams have the same number of points.
