Saudi Aramco is the world's largest oil company by crude-oil production capacity.
Saudi Aramco is the short name for Saudi Arabian Oil Company, Saudi Arabia's state-controlled petroleum producer. Its origins date to the concession granted to Standard Oil of California in 1933. The company later became fully owned by the Saudi government, and its modern corporate identity is closely tied to the country's energy industry.
Aramco operates across exploration, production, refining, chemicals, distribution, and marketing. Saudi Arabia's official crude-oil production capacity has commonly been stated at about 12 million barrels per day, although actual output varies with market conditions, government policy, and OPEC+ decisions.
Aramco became publicly listed on the Saudi Exchange in 2019, while the government retained control. It is often confused with a purely private multinational oil major such as ExxonMobil. Aramco's enormous reserves, production scale, profitability, and partial public listing make it one of the world's most valuable companies.
