Saudi Aramco briefly became the world's most valuable publicly traded company after its 2019 stock-market debut.
Saudi Aramco began trading on the Saudi Stock Exchange, known as Tadawul, in December 2019. Its initial public offering valued the company at about $1.7 trillion, and its share price soon pushed its market value above $2 trillion for a short period.
The company is Saudi Arabia's state-controlled oil producer and one of the world's largest energy businesses. Its enormous petroleum reserves, production capacity, and profitability give it a scale unlike most listed companies.
Saudi Aramco's valuation is often compared with technology companies, but the businesses have different drivers. Oil prices, production levels, energy policy, and global demand affect Aramco, while technology valuations are more closely tied to software, devices, cloud services, and expected growth.
