Which Rolex model is commonly known as the 'President' watch?
Answer
Rolex Day-Date
Answer
Rolex Day-Date
The Rolex model commonly known as the “President” watch is the Rolex Day-Date. The nickname refers primarily to the model’s association with powerful political and business figures, as well as its distinctive bracelet.
Rolex introduced the Day-Date in 1956. It was the first wristwatch to show both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full through two separate calendar windows. The model was produced in precious metals, including yellow gold, white gold, Everose gold, and platinum, which helped establish its formal, high-status image.
The name “President” is often linked to the semi-circular President bracelet and to wearers such as U.S. presidents. However, the nickname does not mean that every president wore one. John F. Kennedy received a Day-Date as a gift but reportedly never wore it. The Day-Date is also easy to confuse with the Datejust: the Datejust displays the date only, while the Day-Date adds the full weekday.
