WALL-E is the main robot character in Pixar’s 2008 animated film WALL-E.
The name stands for Waste Allocation Load-Lifter: Earth-Class. In the film’s future, WALL-E is a compact waste-compacting machine left on an abandoned Earth after massive environmental damage and human departure into space. He spends years cleaning the planet and collecting small objects that interest him.
WALL-E’s story changes when EVE, a sleek probe sent from the human colony ship Axiom, arrives to search for evidence of plant life. Their discovery eventually helps humanity reconsider its relationship with Earth.
WALL-E is often confused with EVE, the film’s other central robot, or AUTO, the Axiom’s autopilot. WALL-E is the title character and the trash-compacting robot, while EVE is the probe robot and AUTO is the ship’s control system.
