Which riot grrrl band released the 1997 album Dig Me Out?

The story behind the answer

Sleater-Kinney released the 1997 riot grrrl album Dig Me Out.

Dig Me Out was Sleater-Kinney's third studio album and appeared on April 8, 1997, through the independent label Kill Rock Stars. The band—Carrie Brownstein, Corin Tucker, and Janet Weiss—was a central part of the broader Pacific Northwest punk and riot grrrl network.

The album was recorded in Seattle between December 1996 and January 1997 with producer John Goodmanson. It marked Janet Weiss's debut with the group, and her forceful drumming became a defining part of Sleater-Kinney's later sound. Songs such as “One More Hour” and “Little Babies” combine sharp guitar interplay with lyrics about heartbreak, survival, identity, and independence.

The title is sometimes confused with the work of other riot grrrl acts such as Bikini Kill or Bratmobile, but neither released this album. Dig Me Out is widely regarded as Sleater-Kinney's breakthrough record and was later included on major lists of the greatest albums in rock history.
