Which rider is the only one to have won five TT races in a single week?
Answer
Ian Hutchinson
Answer
Ian Hutchinson
Ian Hutchinson is the only rider to have won five Isle of Man TT races in a single week. He achieved the record during the 2010 TT festival, producing a clean sweep of the solo motorcycle classes.
Hutchinson won the Superbike TT, both Supersport races, the Superstock TT and the Senior TT. His results included two victories in one day, when he won the first Supersport race and the Superstock event. He also secured the 2010 Joey Dunlop TT Championship.
The achievement was especially notable because the TT combines extremely fast racing with a demanding 37.73-mile road course. Before Hutchinson's breakthrough, Phillip McCallen held the record for most wins in a week, with four victories in 1996.
This question is sometimes confused with the record for most total TT wins, a category dominated by legends such as Joey Dunlop and John McGuinness. Hutchinson's record refers specifically to five race victories within one TT race week.
