Which Ride or Die director co-directed the 2017 feature film The Strange Ones?

Lauren Wolkstein co-directed the 2017 feature film The Strange Ones with Christopher Radcliff.

The Strange Ones is an atmospheric thriller about Sam, a teenage boy, and Nick, a young man travelling through rural America after a house fire. Their claims that they are brothers gradually give way to a more troubling and ambiguous story, allowing the film to work as both a road movie and a psychological mystery.

Wolkstein co-directed the feature with Christopher Radcliff, who also wrote the screenplay. The film grew from their 2011 short film of the same name, which they also made together. That shared origin is why some references describe Wolkstein as a filmmaker associated with the project even when they focus on Radcliff’s writing credit.

The feature premiered at South by Southwest in March 2017. It later received a DirecTV release in December 2017 before reaching video-on-demand platforms and selected cinemas in January 2018. Wolkstein subsequently became known for directing television, including episodes of Queen Sugar, Cloak & Dagger, and Y: The Last Man.
