Answer
Lookout! Records
Answer
Lookout! Records
Lookout! Records released Operation Ivy’s 1989 album Energy.
Energy was the only studio album by the Berkeley, California band Operation Ivy. Lookout! Records issued it in May 1989, shortly after the group broke up. The album collected songs from the band’s earlier releases and sessions rather than documenting a newly assembled post-breakup project.
Operation Ivy combined hardcore speed with ska rhythms, helping establish the sound later associated with ska punk. The lineup included vocalist Jesse Michaels, guitarist Tim Armstrong, bassist Matt Freeman and drummer Dave Mello.
Lookout! co-founder Larry Livermore had strong ties to the East Bay punk scene and released much of Operation Ivy’s recorded work. The album is sometimes confused with a later compilation titled Hectic, but Energy is the band’s best-known full-length collection and its central document.
