Which record label released Bob Marley’s album Exodus?
Answer
Island Records
Answer
Island Records
Island Records released Bob Marley and the Wailers’ album Exodus.
Island had signed the Wailers earlier in the 1970s and issued Catch a Fire in 1973. Under founder Chris Blackwell, the label helped bring Jamaican reggae to a broad European and North American audience. Exodus followed in 1977 and became one of the label’s most important reggae releases.
The record was issued through Island’s international network, while the Wailers’ Jamaican identity remained central to its music and presentation. Its success strengthened Marley’s position as a global artist rather than a performer known only within the Caribbean.
Tuff Gong is a different label associated with Marley and his family, while Beverley’s and Studio One were important earlier Jamaican labels connected with his recording history. Those labels are therefore plausible alternatives, but they did not release Exodus as its principal international label.
