Which rapper released the 1988 album Lyte as a Rock?

MC Lyte released the 1988 album Lyte as a Rock.

Issued on First Priority Music on September 13, 1988, Lyte as a Rock was MC Lyte’s debut studio album. Its title track and “Paper Thin” became signature recordings, helping establish her as one of the leading women in late-1980s rap.

MC Lyte was born Lana Michelle Moorer in Brooklyn, New York. She began recording while still a teenager and had already released “I Cram to Understand U (Sam)” in 1986, a song often cited as one of rap’s early records about the crack epidemic.

Lyte as a Rock is sometimes mixed up with albums by Queen Latifah and Salt-N-Pepa, who were also important women in hip-hop during the same period. Queen Latifah’s All Hail the Queen arrived in 1989, while Salt-N-Pepa’s A Salt with a Deadly Pepa was released in 1988.
