Which rapper released Get Rich or Die Tryin’ as his major-label debut album in 2003?

The story behind the answer

50 Cent released Get Rich or Die Tryin’ as his major-label debut album in 2003.

Interscope Records issued the album on February 6, 2003, after 50 Cent signed with Eminem’s Shady Records and Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. Eminem and Dr. Dre were executive producers, and the album introduced 50 Cent’s street-focused style to a huge mainstream audience.

Get Rich or Die Tryin’ debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 870,000 copies in its first week in the United States. Its best-known singles included “In da Club,” “21 Questions,” and “P.I.M.P.”

The title is sometimes confused with the soundtrack to the 2005 semi-autobiographical film of the same name. The 2003 release is 50 Cent’s debut studio album; the later soundtrack is a separate album connected to his film role.
