Which hip hop duo released the 1986 album Raising Hell?

The story behind the answer

Run-DMC released the 1986 album Raising Hell. The group’s third studio album became a landmark release that brought hip hop to a much larger mainstream audience.

Produced primarily by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons, Raising Hell blended Run-DMC’s direct rhymes with hard rock-influenced production. Its best-known songs include “Walk This Way,” a collaboration with Aerosmith, and “It’s Tricky.” “Walk This Way” helped connect rap listeners and rock audiences, while its innovative video received heavy exposure on MTV.

Raising Hell became the first hip hop album to be certified platinum and was later certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Run-DMC’s stripped-down style, Adidas clothing, and forceful live performances also made them major cultural figures. The album is frequently cited as one of the most important releases in the commercial development of hip hop.
