Which rapper played B-Rabbit in the 2002 film 8 Mile?

Eminem played B-Rabbit in the 2002 film 8 Mile.

Directed by Curtis Hanson, 8 Mile follows Jimmy Smith Jr., a young Detroit rapper who performs under the name B-Rabbit. Eminem made his feature-film acting debut in the leading role, drawing on elements of his own background while playing a fictional character.

The film’s story centers on underground rap battles, working-class life, creative ambition, and the pressure to perform in front of a hostile crowd. Its climactic battle scenes helped make the movie a major cultural success.

Eminem also recorded the soundtrack’s central song, “Lose Yourself,” which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. B-Rabbit is not Eminem’s real name and is not the same as Slim Shady, the alter ego used in his music.
