Which race is traditionally the final event of the TT week?

The story behind the answer

The Senior TT is traditionally the final event of Isle of Man TT race week.

Known as the blue-riband race of the festival, the Senior TT is the meeting’s premier solo contest and is typically scheduled as the closing race. Its status reflects both its history and its demanding format: modern Senior machines can complete six laps of the 37.73-mile Mountain Course, making the race one of the longest and most prestigious events on the programme.

The Senior TT was first held in 1911 and originally catered for motorcycles with engines around the 500cc limit. Its regulations have changed substantially, but the race retained its central place in TT tradition. The winner receives the prestigious Marquis de Mouzilly St. Mars Trophy.

“Traditionally” matters because schedules can change. Weather, safety decisions, cancellations, and exceptional programme changes have occasionally altered the order or prevented the Senior race from running. The usual finale, however, is the Senior TT—not the Sidecar, Lightweight, or Junior TT.
