Buzzcocks included “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)” on their 1978 album Love Bites.
The song was written by Buzzcocks singer and guitarist Pete Shelley and became one of the band’s best-known recordings. Its bright, urgent melody contrasts with lyrics about painful, uncertain romantic feelings, helping the track remain popular well beyond the original punk era.
Love Bites was Buzzcocks’ second studio album, following Another Music in a Different Kitchen, which was also released in 1978. The band came from Bolton, England, and became central to the Manchester-area punk scene after forming in 1976.
The Jam, The Undertones and The Adverts were other major British punk-era bands, so they are plausible alternatives. However, “Ever Fallen in Love” is specifically a Buzzcocks song and was also released as a single in 1978.
