The Cleveland punk band that released the album Young, Loud and Snotty was Dead Boys.
Formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1975, Dead Boys were among the most aggressive and confrontational groups of the first American punk wave. The band grew partly out of Rocket from the Tombs, with guitarist Cheetah Chrome and drummer Johnny Blitz becoming central members alongside vocalist Stiv Bators, guitarist Jimmy Zero, and bassist Jeff Magnum.
Young, Loud and Snotty was released by Sire Records in October 1977. Produced by Genya Ravan and recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York, it captured the band’s raw, abrasive sound and theatrical attitude. Songs such as “Sonic Reducer” became enduring punk anthems, while the album itself was the group’s first studio release and their only album to reach the Billboard 200.
The title is sometimes confused with the band’s later re-recording, Still Snotty: Young, Loud and Snotty at 40, released in 2017. That anniversary project featured founding members but a different lineup and should not be mistaken for the original 1977 album.
