Noah is the prophet associated with building the Ark in the Quran.
In the Quran, Noah is called Nuh and is presented as a messenger who warns his people. When they reject the warning, God commands him to construct the Ark under divine guidance. The account appears in several surahs, including Hud, Al-Mu’minun, Ash-Shu'ara, Al-Qamar, and Nuh.
The Quranic account shares major features with Genesis, including Noah’s preaching, the rejection by many people, the flood, and the rescue of believers aboard the vessel. It also has distinctive details, such as the Quran’s account of one of Noah’s sons refusing to board and being overwhelmed by the waves.
Noah’s role is therefore not limited to being a survivor. In Islamic tradition, Nuh is one of the major prophets and a model of patient warning. English spellings vary, but “Noah” is the standard English form of the name.
