Hull City defeated Manchester United 2–0 on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was played at Hull’s MKM Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. It was Hull’s first Premier League game after a nine-year absence from the top flight, and the victory gave them an immediate landmark result against one of England’s most famous clubs.
Semi Ajayi scored Hull’s opening goal in the 17th minute. Nobel Mendy then added a second before half-time, heading in from a free-kick. Both scorers later went off injured, but Hull held on for a clean sheet and three points.
The result was historically significant for Hull because it was their first top-flight win over Manchester United. It was also one of two opening-weekend victories by promoted clubs, alongside Ipswich Town’s win over Sunderland.
