Hull City kept a clean sheet in its 2–0 win over Manchester United in 2026–27 Matchweek 1.
Hull defeated Manchester United 2–0 at MKM Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. The result gave Hull three points and meant the promoted side prevented United from scoring in its first league match of the season.
Hull were one of three promoted clubs in the 2026–27 Premier League. Coventry City opened the season against Arsenal and lost 3–0, while Ipswich Town beat Sunderland 2–1. Thus, all three newcomers won or lost their first fixtures, but Hull were the promoted team that defeated Manchester United.
Leeds United also kept a clean sheet during the round, winning 1–0 away to Nottingham Forest. That can cause confusion, but Leeds were not one of the three promoted clubs for this season.
