Joe Alwyn was later credited by the Recording Academy as a producer of Taylor Swift’s “august.”
The song was written by Swift and Jack Antonoff. Its production credits include Swift, Antonoff, and Alwyn, although the Folklore liner notes originally listed only Swift and Antonoff as producers for the track.
The Recording Academy recognized Alwyn as a co-producer after Folklore won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. Alwyn was credited under the pseudonym William Bowery on several Folklore and Evermore songwriting or production credits, but “august” is associated with his producer credit rather than a songwriting credit.
This distinction matters because listeners sometimes assume every Folklore collaborator had the same role. Aaron Dessner was a prominent writer and producer elsewhere on the album, while Antonoff was both co-writer and producer of “august.” Alwyn’s credit is specifically a later-recognized production contribution.
