Joe Alwyn received later Recording Academy recognition as a co-producer of Taylor Swift’s “august.”
The Folklore liner notes credit Swift and Jack Antonoff as producers, while Alwyn was recognized by the Recording Academy as a co-producer after the album won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
Alwyn worked with Swift under the pseudonym William Bowery on other Folklore and Evermore material, but “august” is specifically credited with his production involvement. This distinction makes the song’s credits more complicated than a simple list of its original album packaging.
Listeners sometimes confuse Alwyn with Aaron Dessner, another prominent Folklore producer. Dessner contributed heavily to the album, but he is not listed as a producer of “august.”
