Joe Alwyn received co-producer credit for Taylor Swift’s “august” after Folklore’s Grammy win.
The song’s principal production credits name Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff, while Joe Alwyn was later recognized as a co-producer. The Recording Academy credited Alwyn after Folklore won Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. Alwyn’s production work on the album was connected to the pseudonym William Bowery, which was also used for songwriting credits elsewhere on Folklore.
This detail is easy to miss because the album’s original liner-note credits did not present Alwyn in exactly the same way as the later Recording Academy recognition. Swift and Antonoff remain the central credited collaborators for “august,” but Alwyn’s contribution is part of the song’s documented production history.
Alwyn is not the same person as Aaron Dessner, another important Folklore producer and songwriter. Dessner worked extensively on the album, but the specific added co-producer credit associated with “august” is Joe Alwyn. Folklore won Album of the Year at the Grammys held in 2021.
